DASHWOOD SCHOOL
The Past, The Present and The Future
Dashwood School moved into a beautiful new building in July 2008
This was a very exciting time for all involved, but with a tinge of sadness for all of the memories the beautiful old building held
within its walls.

Congratulations to Dawn Cothier and her
team who run the Out of School Club.
An unannounced visit from Ofsted has found
the club to be 'Good' and on the borderline
of being 'Outstanding'.
This is a real achievement and testamnet to
the thought and care that Dawn puts into our out of school provision. The full report
will soon appear on the Ofsted website and copies are now availble from Dawn

RED NOSE DAY COLLECTION
The children raised over £125.00 for Red Nose day by wearing their clothes back to front. Well done.

Take a look in our Photo Gallery at the
wonderful photos of the children and staff
enjoying 'World Book Day'

Latest Ofsted report

Dashwood_HMI_April_2009.pdf
(Size:75.33KB)
You will be delighted to hear that our latest monitoring visit from HMI this week was a real success.
The school's progress in four out of the 5 'key issues' (identified when the school went into Special Measures in November 2007) has been rated as 'good'. This means leadership and management (at all levels in the school), the quality of teaching, pupil's attitudes and behaviour are now 'good' (in November they were rated 'satisfactory'); Health and Safety has maintained its 'good' rating and pupils' standards and achievements have moved from' inadequate' to 'satisfactory' which is particularly pleasing.
We were especially pleased that the quality of teaching was praised and that our pupils are showing increased pride in their school and have the confidence to speak out about how we can continue to improve things for them. These are the main headlines from the visit; the full report will be available very soon on our website.
Overall, we feel that we are moving in the right direction towards our aspiration of becoming an 'outstanding' school'
