Welcome to the brand new Dashwood School

We aim to fill this page with pictures of events, some of which we were unable to participate in fully at the old school

National Sports Week
26th June - 3rd July 2009
We began the week with an opening ceremony, every child made a sports pledge that they are going to try and achieve over the next few weeks and months, and we had opportunities to play rounders, basketball, handball, football and to try aerobics. Our sports days on Wed and Thurs were great fun. Everyone in FSU receieved a medal, Blue house were the overall winners of KS1's sports day and The American team won the KS2 event.
On Friday, each year group received half an hours football coaching from Premier Soccer. These are some photos of Year 1 trying out some new skills.

Yr 3 and 4 competed at the partnership athletics meeting at North Oxon Academy. They all did really well and enjoyed running on a proper athletics track.

Yr 1 and 2 had a rounders tournament, we all had fun and had a chance to put the skills we've been practising this term into action.

World Book Day
Everybody enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters, and each class took part in a parade to show off their costumes, for World Book Day on the 5th March 2009. Can you spot Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, Dennis the Menace and Minnie the Minx, Black Beauty, Harry Potter or any of your favourite characters? You might also see Year 1 enjoying their time in the reading tent that Miss Armitage made for us all to share.

Goodbye to Mrs Brookes
Mrs Brookes, our head teacher who retired in the summer 2008, came for a special farewell assembly in October. We gave her some presents including flowers, photographs, wine and a watch. She gave us a puppet for each class to use for telling stories and doing plays. It was lovely to see her again.

Dashwood Autumn Festival
We enjoyed the aroma of freshly-cooked harvest bread at the Dashwood School Autumn Festival last week.
The bread was kindly supplied by Tesco Banbury as the centrepiece to a festival in which each class presented a song, performance or dance to the gathered parents. The hall was packed for the event, our first Harvest Celebration at the new school building, and the donations of non-perishable goods are being given to the Banbury Young Homeless Project. After the festival, the children ate the bread which smelled delicious!
